OM2000+ overview

The OM2000+ is a radio-frequency (RF) linear power amplifier for an external transceiver. OM Power documents amateur bands from 1.8 to 29.7 MHz including WARC plus 50 MHz. Its original manual specifies an FU-728F ceramic tetrode, a four-electrode vacuum tube. It does not contain a receiver.

Specifications and operation

The original manual lists 2000 W or more in SSB (single sideband) and CW (Morse) on HF, 1500 W at 50 MHz and a 50-ohm nominal RF impedance. Impedance describes opposition to alternating current; a suitable match limits reflected power. These are manufacturer ratings, not independent measurements or legal operating limits. The manual specifies selectable 220/230/240 V AC supply and centrifugal and axial fans.

Protective functions monitor abnormal voltages, currents and standing-wave ratio (SWR, an indicator of antenna and feed-line mismatch). Protective thresholds may differ between historical manuals and current product revisions; they should never be mixed without checking the exact hardware.

Tuning and high-voltage safety

Before transmitting, check the antenna, cables, grounding and transmitter drive. Tune the amplifier according to the matching manual. High voltage may remain lethal even after power is removed. Internal maintenance requires specialist training.
