Automatic OM2000A+ amplifier

The OM2000A+ is an automatically tuned radio-frequency (RF) linear amplifier for 1.8–29.7 MHz amateur bands including WARC, plus 50 MHz. It uses a ceramic FU-728F tetrode (four-electrode vacuum tube) and an external transceiver. Automatic tuning changes amplifier settings as operating frequency changes.

Manufacturer specifications

OM Power specifies more than 2000 W in SSB (single sideband) and CW (Morse) on HF, 1500 W RTTY and 1500 W SSB/CW at 50 MHz, with typical 40–60 W drive and nominal 50-ohm connections. These are manufacturer ratings, not independent measurements or legal operating limits. The manufacturer describes selectable 220/230/240 V AC power, a 3 kVA transformer and two cooling fans.

Electrical safeguards monitor currents, voltages and standing-wave ratio (SWR, an indicator of antenna mismatch). OM Power reports automatic tuning in under 0.5 seconds within a band and under three seconds when changing bands, under specified conditions.

CAT, LAN and safety

CAT is the communication interface used to share transceiver frequency and other information with accessories. OM Power identifies several compatible transceiver protocols and LAN (local-area network) monitoring options. Check the actual firmware —embedded control software— revision before updating. Internal high voltage may remain dangerous after mains disconnection.
