OM Power OM1002+
OM1002+ 145 MHz amplifier
The OM1002+ is a solid-state radio-frequency (RF) amplifier for the amateur two-metre band near 145 MHz. Solid state means semiconductor circuitry rather than power vacuum tubes. It amplifies an external transmitter signal and does not contain a receiver.
VHF operation and matching
VHF means very high frequency. At two metres, coaxial cables and connectors must be suitable for the RF power and frequency. Impedance describes the opposition a circuit presents to alternating current. Mismatch can produce reflected RF power, indicated by standing-wave ratio (SWR). Operating within the manufacturer-approved match reduces the risk of amplifier damage.
Installation and operating limits
Before transmitting, check that the antenna is appropriate for the band, that the drive power is within the model’s rating and that cooling is unobstructed. Duty cycle is the proportion of time a transmitter is active during an operating period; thermal limits may depend on modulation mode. Do not substitute figures from similarly named amplifier variants or handle RF connectors while transmitting.
Documentation and predecessor
Read the manufacturer-hosted OM1002+ PDF manual and the official download library. The older OM1002 model has different instructions.
