OM Power OM2500A automatic amplifier

The OM2500A is an automatically tuned radio-frequency (RF) linear amplifier for an external transceiver. Automatic tuning adjusts the amplifier output network with less user intervention than a manual unit. The GU84B version and the FCC FU728F edition have separate documentation.

Power tubes and model revisions

GU84B and FU728F are tetrodes, four-electrode vacuum tubes used for power amplification. One tube must not be assumed interchangeable with another: electrical supply, tuning and operating limits may depend on the exact hardware revision. FCC identifies a version for the United States market rather than universal compatibility.

Antenna matching and electrical safety

Automatic tuning does not by itself fix a mismatched antenna. Standing-wave ratio (SWR) indicates mismatch and possible reflected power. Verify transmitter drive, ventilation and grounding. Dangerous high voltages can remain inside the amplifier even after mains power is disconnected.
