Eddystone 840 — communications receiver
The Eddystone 840 is a seven-valve communications receiver for professional and amateur listening. It is receive-only. Its documentation is distinct from the 840A and 840C manuals.
Reception and operation
Original instructions identify four tuning ranges with coverage approximately 480 kHz to 30.6 MHz, RF gain controls and a beat-frequency oscillator for CW (Morse telegraphy). The intermediate frequency is 450 kHz. The AC/DC mains design poses a potential live-chassis hazard during servicing.
Model-specific manual
Eddystone 840 original English instruction manual (6-page PDF). The original title explicitly states «EDDYSTONE COMMUNICATIONS RECEIVER MODEL 840». The PDF was verified accessible and must not be confused with the 840A or 840C.
Other revisions
The 840A and 840C have separate records and manuals.
